What is BIOPURE OC6?

BIOPURE OC6 is a castor seed oil-based functional finish designed to deliver exceptional non-biocidal odor adsorption properties to textiles. Its optimal performance provides textiles with long-lasting freshness that effectively prevents odor development even after sweat or other odorants are absorbed into the fabric. This innovative finish ensures fabrics remain fresher for longer, enhancing user comfort and confidence.

How it works

BIOPURE OC6 works by attracting and forming a weak bond with odor molecules such as isovaleric acid, ammonia, acetic acid, nonenal, and indole, effectively inhibiting their perceived smell. This selective attraction is based on the molecular weight and structure of these odorants.

During textile finishing, BIOPURE OC6 forms strong, durable bonds deep within the textile fiber. This ensures long-lasting odor adsorption, maintaining effectiveness for 50 washes.

Optimized for efficient processing, BIOPURE OC6 securely bonds to textiles even at low drying temperatures (75°C), enhancing energy efficiency and application versatility. It is a sustainable alternative to synthetic technologies, and an optimal solution for neutralizing odors without antimicrobial action, providing a reliable, fresh experience.

The unique value of Castor Oil among fats and oils:

  • It is the only source of an 18-carbon hydroxylated fatty acid with one double bond.

  • Ricinoleic acid comprises approximately 90% of the castor fatty acid composition.

  • Exceptional uniformity and consistency for a naturally occurring material.

  • Ricinoleic acid is exceptional from other fatty acids because of its unique structure.

Regenerative Castor

Our plant-based technology is derived from regenerative castor seed oil. The castor seed consists of 45-55% oil. This essential oil produced from the castor plant offers unequalled versatility and capability. The oil is highly productive and resource efficient.

The castor plant is resilient in fighting and enduring climate change. It is ideal for marginal lands in arid and semi-arid climates. The hearty root system prevents soil erosion that easily can occur. The castor plant is very water efficient, drought resistant, and tolerant of water salinity and soil acidity. The farms practice regenerative agriculture and are supported with education, training, and resources.

Utilizing renewable energy and state-of-the-art processing equipment that minimize waste and energy usage. At the initial lifecycle assessment of our castor-based technologies, we already were utilizing more than 50% of renewable energy in the processing and manufacturing facility. We take great pride in knowing that, today, we utilize 100% renewable energy, primarily through wind power.
